Where’s the Snow?

We woke up this morning to a VERY light dusting of snow. It didn’t even cover all the surfaces and had disappeared by early morning. Regardless, the kids were super excited about it. Henry named off everything it covered: “It on da Spider House (aka the Little Tikes Playhouse that we have that is mainly inhabited by creepy crawlies). It on my motorcycle. It on da sandbox.” etc, etc. Now living in the Boston area, why were the kids so excited about such a minuscule amount of snow? Because we’ve had none all year! Well we did have a freaky October but that was it. It’s January now and the kids are longing for putting on their snow pants, building snowmen, and becoming adventurous sledders. It’s unheard of at this point in the year for us to be snow free. This picture was taken last year at the exact same time in January. Please note the enormous amount of snow.

Isabelle tackles Mt. Snow

Now, please know that I am NOT complaining. I am not a fan of snow. I don’t ski. I don’t skate. I don’t sled. I find it nothing but a nuisance and could gladly go the whole winter without it. However, with this little snow so far it makes me very nervous as to what is coming. Could it be that we just totally luck out and not have a snowy winter? Hmm…seems unlikely. My fear is the snow is on its way and when it decides to land, it’s going to come in avalanche form. Maybe we should have bought that snow blower…
