Starting next Monday, I am participating in a weight loss
challenge with some friends. Unlike a lot of people this time of year, I’m not
doing it as a New Year’s resolution but more like I’ve run out of excuses for
carrying around the extra baby weight. Since my kids have all been close
together in age (14 months apart and then 19 months apart), I never really did
anything to get back in shape. Why bother putting in all the work when another
baby would just be ruining it soon? But now that the baby boat has sailed off
to the horizon (or off the horizon and on to another planet if you are my
husband), I feel like it’s time to suck it up and do something about it. The
lingering five pounds per kid clearly isn’t going anywhere on its own. So like
anyone who is truly dedicated to losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle
would do, I’m eating EVERYTHING I can before Monday’s competition starts. I am
literally sitting around thinking about what snacks I can have and what ultra-fatty
dinners I can consume while eating other things. Oh, and I’m also overly
consuming wine. I figure the best way to start off the completion is at your
heaviest, right? I’d write more now but there is actually a container of ice
cream calling me from the freezer. Mmmm….ice cream.
