My (Honest) Biggest Loser Prep Work

Starting next Monday, I am participating in a weight loss challenge with some friends. Unlike a lot of people this time of year, I’m not doing it as a New Year’s resolution but more like I’ve run out of excuses for carrying around the extra baby weight. Since my kids have all been close together in age (14 months apart and then 19 months apart), I never really did anything to get back in shape. Why bother putting in all the work when another baby would just be ruining it soon? But now that the baby boat has sailed off to the horizon (or off the horizon and on to another planet if you are my husband), I feel like it’s time to suck it up and do something about it. The lingering five pounds per kid clearly isn’t going anywhere on its own. So like anyone who is truly dedicated to losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle would do, I’m eating EVERYTHING I can before Monday’s competition starts. I am literally sitting around thinking about what snacks I can have and what ultra-fatty dinners I can consume while eating other things. Oh, and I’m also overly consuming wine. I figure the best way to start off the completion is at your heaviest, right? I’d write more now but there is actually a container of ice cream calling me from the freezer. Mmmm….ice cream.

I am coming, my sweet friends (and yes, this is my actual freezer).

  2. But that's the churn style, it's low fat. You need some Ben and Jerry's!

  3. I buy the churn style so that I can eat twice as much and not feel guilty.

  5. Hello! Fellow Boston Blogger and new reader here! I think its great that you are taking steps to get healthy, no better time than the present!! It's going to be hard at first, and I'm a sucker for ice cream as well! But I think once you get a routine going, once you start feeling good, eating healthier is going to come naturally. And it doesn't mean you don't have to cut ice cream out! It just means you have it once a week, or maybe not as much ice cream! You can do it :)

  6. I'll be there in a few minutes. Please have a spoon. I'll bring hot fudge. I ran today so I deserve it. Shall I bring wine?

  7. We started at my school last Monday. I ate as much as I could last weekend. Then I started WW on Monday. I think I have a lot more to lose than you (only 1 kid, but I weigh more than I did at 39 weeks). Good luck to you. I can't wait to hear about your progress.

    1. No particular program. Just doing it the old fashioned way - choosing good foods over bad, portion control, watching fat/calories intake, drinking lots of water, not eating late at night, etc.
